Facial veins / Rosacea
Broken capillaries and redness on the face are very common problems. They can be unsightly and distressing in many cases, causing flushing, blushing and sensitive skin. Our Vbeam Prima, ExcelV and Laser Genesis systems offer the latest technology in the treatment of these conditions and other red lesions on the face and body.
Brown / age spots
Freckles and sunspots or ‘liver spots’ are pigmented lesions that can develop over time, as a result of exposure to the sun’s UV rays, especially on the hands and face. At Laserway on Davey we have the Revlite Q-Switched YAG laser and the Erbium YAG laser to help us in the treatment of any unwanted spots.
Another treatment option for sun damage is Photodynamic Therapy. This uses a photosensitizing drug (ALA), activated by a light source, to destroy the damaged cells, promoting the regeneration of healthy skin cells.

Leg vein treatments
Family history, prolonged standing or sitting, pregnancy and time can lead to veins on the legs. These can be small spider veins increasing to large varicose veins – all can be unsightly and some can cause serious medical issues as we age. Our medical team can assess your condition and advise on all available treatment options. We specialise in sclerotherapy or injection treatment. (Dr Galligan is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Phlebology).
At Laserway we offer a range of non-surgical treatments, tailored to treat individual concerns for small spider veins to large varicose veins. Treatment options available here are:
- Standard (micro) Sclerotherapy
- Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
- Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLA)
Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLA) was developed in the USA and has been performed since 1999. Clinical trials reported in the medical literature have shown it to have the best success rate of any procedure available for the treatment of large varicose veins – up to 99% after two years and 98% after five years. It is best suited to varicose veins greater than 6mm in diameter that are straight and not close to the skin surface. This procedure has made the necessity for surgical stripping obsolete.
Not all varicose veins are suitable for EVLA. A duplex scan (ultrasound) is used prior to the procedure to map the leg veins to determine the direction of venous flow and the extent of the problem. The map is our work plan and a reference point for the future (see Venous Mapping). The initial consultation and mapping will determine if your veins are suitable for EVLA. Our new Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) system allows us to treat large varicose veins without the need for surgery, and with a much higher success rate than traditional procedures.
Tattoos are very common at the moment and we often see multiple tattoos on one person. Circumstances may become no longer relevant or desired, especially if they are in an exposed area. Tattoo removal can be very successful. It does involve multiple treatments, depending on the age and colour of the tattoo. At Laserway on Davey we have the latest Revlite Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser which is state of the art for tattoo removal. Ask us about the costs.

Each season takes a toll on the skin. The Tasmanian sun is especially harsh but cold and wind can also affect the skin. This, combined with the drying out of our skin as we age, can cause skin to become dull and lifeless. We offer a range of services such as peels and microdermabrasion to freshen and rejuvenate the skin. Lasers also stimulate the deeper layers in the skin to produce collagen and help with tightening and decreasing some fine lines and wrinkles.
ResurFX fractional, non-ablative skin resurfacing
This advanced technology produces multiple tiny heat zones in the dermis, without disrupting the skin surface, to stimulate collagen production. This laser can be used to improve wrinkles, lines, acne scars, stretch marks or for skin rejuvenation.
It can be combined with the M22 IPL or Laser Genesis to address superficial concerns such as redness and pigmentation, large pores and uneven texture.
Frowns and wrinkles
Frown lines, crow’s feet and lines on the forehead are issues most of us face as we age. If you would like to decrease these to give a more relaxed, happier appearance, we have proven, safe injectable treatments available.
Loss of volume in the face can lead to lines around the nose, mouth and chin in men and women and can cause a ‘saggy/jowly’ appearance or just an older look than we want. Safe, volume replacing injectables are available here.
Also available, fractional, non-ablative ResurFX laser for treatment of scars, wrinkles and stretchmarks.

As we age skin loses its firmness and can appear loose and saggy. TGA approved Ultraformer Micro Focused Ultrasound (MFU) uses state-of-the-art ultrasound waves to lift and tighten without injury to the skin’s surface. Target tissues are heated to the specific temperature required to induce ‘thermal injury’ which causes collagen to contract and promote collagen growth. Ultraformer is a non-surgical treatment using micro focussed ultrasound for lifting, tightening and contouring. These non-invasive treatments can comfortably rejuvenate the neck, eyelids, chin, jawline and brow. Annual maintenance treatments can slow down the normal ageing process.
Double Chin Treatment
Fullness under the chin or a 'double chin' is a common concern for both men and women. It can be caused by ageing, genetic, and weight changes. Sometimes no matter how much you diet or exercise, the fullness in the area does not go away and it may make you feel like you look older and heavier than you actually are.
We are now offering an FDA and TGA approved injectable treatment to treat this common concern. Recently launched in Australia, the product has had proven results in the US and Europe.

Eyelid reduction surgery
Eyelid reduction surgery is an effective rejuvenating procedure with high satisfaction rates among patients. During this procedure the Doctor makes an incision in the crease of the upper eyelid skin, above your lashes, and the excess skin is removed. The incision is sewn together under the skin with very small sutures and usually heals quickly with a minimally noticeable scar. Sutures are removed in a few days.
This procedure is also available to address excess skin in the lower eyelid area. The procedure is done under a local anaesthetic.
Low Level Light Therapy with LED (LED LLLT)
Our patients have enjoyed the benefits of our Medical Strength Omnilux light therapy system for many years. We also have the Healite II by Lutronic, providing the next generation in LED Phototherapy. Healite is a medical treatment technique, using low level light therapy (LLLT) – high powered NASA LEDs, at specific wavelengths increase local blood circulation for improved skin healing, reduction in both skin and musculoskeletal inflammation, pain relief, reduction in active acne and promoting skin rejuvenation.
We have recently acquired the latest technology for treating vascular and pigmented skin concerns.
The Vbeam Prima uses pulsed-dye laser (PDL) technology to deliver an intense but gentle burst of light to targeted areas of skin. There it is absorbed by the blood vessels or melanin in pigmented areas. The Vbeam Prima is effective in treating rosacea, sun spots, age spots and freckles, as well as other vascular and pigmentation abnormalities such as poikiloderma, port-wine stains, facial veins and leg veins.
